Winners of the Train Competition

Rainbow Dream Train

The Rainbow Dream Train painted by Dorothy Hampton wins the top prize in the Design a Train by those aged 4 to 7 years. We are proud to announce Samuel Higgins, aged 8, from Ballabeg, with his whistle stop tour to the South Pole in “Fast Train to the Coldest Part of the World” together with his “Antarctic Express” train design is our Overall Winner.

A recording of this story will be made available on our Facebook page, together with Isle of Man Transport, the Family Library and Peter’s Train.

What an exciting time we have had. What adventures. Trying to decide who came up with the best story and design was difficult, but fortunately, our expert, engineer and children’s author, Christopher Vine, made the final decision.

When we started this competition, the Isle of Man was just finishing Lockdown. The Family Library and Isle of Man Transport launched their new websites, full of exciting things to do. The Family Library opened again, and now, as we announce our winners, we can reveal that the Steam Railway will open again on the 23rd July and the Electric Railway on the 25th July. Wishing us all exciting adventures in the future.

We will be in touch with the winners and well done everyone for taking part and inspiring us all!
