Community

Having graduated from UCM and training in Devon, George Harris landed a job at Source, a Michelin starred Restaurant in Windermere. 

Politics

Tynwald announced the new budget and the personal income tax allowance is going up. The Basic State Pension will rise to £184.90 a week, and the Manx State Pension to £263.55 a week. Since 2021, Manx Care’s budget has risen from £270m to £404m.

Planning

The Department of Infrastructure confirmed it is withdrawing its planning application for new flood defences and highway improvements along West Quay following criticism from Ramsey residents who had voted against it. 

Transport

The Steam Packet may or may not sail due to weather conditions. Tim Crookall declined to confirm the final cost of the Liverpool Ferry Terminal due to ongoing legal proceedings. Isle of Man taxpayers have paid more than £100 million. The original budget was £38 million.

Unite the Union, formed in 2007, now has offices on the on the Isle of Man. The last notable strike on the Island was the 1918 General Strike over the 9p loaf. The 2026 Bus Strike issues include zero-hour contacts, pay and conditions.The Mountain Road may or may not be open due to pre-TT infrastructure works. 

Sport

The Isle of Man Sports Awards at Villa showcases the incredible talent on the Island with Wimbledon competitor Billy Harris and motorcycle trials rider Kaytlyn Adshead receiving the top prizes. Last year Adshead become the first Manx woman to secure a European title in motorcycle trials.
