A celebration of light, summer and the Island’s Celtic and Viking heritage. This is a very popular event so parking is difficult.
The Oie Voaldyn Fire Festival reimagines the traditional Manx May Fire Festival and celebrates the ancient custom of Oie Voaldyn (May Day Eve). Historically, the fires marked the lands return to fertility, symbolising winters end and the arrival of summer.
In 2026, the festival will centre on the enduring contest between Summer and Winter. Two parades representing each side will meet on Peel beach, where their champions will stage a dramatic fight. Summer ultimately wins, ushering in the warmer, more vibrant months ahead.
