Fairy Bridge

Main Road, Ballasalla

Near this spot was a small bridge made naturally by an upshift of land and close to the boundaries of Rushen Abbey which is considered sacred land. The suggestion arose that the Little People had made the bridge. The Little People or fairies of the Isle of Man are sticklers for good manners and should be greeted or at least acknowledged whenever crossing the bridge. Bad manners bring bad luck.

Another Fairy Bridge exists across the Middle River near Kewaigue.
