Groudle Glen Railway

Groudle Glen, King Edward Road, Onchan, IM3 2JY

Groudle Glen Railway is a Manx Registered Charity, operated solely by volunteers. The line was built in 1896 to link the Glen to the Zoo at Sea Lion Rocks. Initially opened with a single locomotive named ‘The Sea Lion’ pulling three carriages. The line was so popular that a second locomotive, ‘The Polar Bear’ with additional carriages were quickly added. The Zoo closed at the beginning of the First World War however this train ride is still popular with small children and because of the picturesque marine coast.

Special train events happen at Easter, Hop tu Naa and Christmas.
