Originally located in Ridgeway Street the library first opened in 1886. It has moved twice and since 2016 has been on the corner of Duke Street. In addition to a large book library and loan system there is also a computer suite which is free for library members to use for 2 hours a day and an Online library.
Macmillan have a Cancer Support Information Centre located in the library. They offer a Drop-In service on the last Friday of every month from 11am-2pm.
Special Events happen throughout the year including book signings, competitions and musical gatherings.
