Manx Electric Railways-MER

The Manx Electric Railway has run along the coast from Douglas to Ramsey since 1893. Tram Car 1, dates to the opening of the line. The most picturesque way to travel. The train stops at a few glens on route, including Groudle Glen, Dhoon Glen and Ballaglass.

The line has been kept running in part due to the efforts of the Manx Electric Railway Society, which was formed in 1973, after the Island had lost some train lines that were considered no longer viable.
