Laxey Woollen Mills

The Mill was founded by John Ruskin, the Victorian art critic, in 1881 and is the last working woollen mill, on the Isle of Man. The Wood family, took over the business in the 1950s and have run it ever since. Robert Wood, is a highly skilled woollen weaver and designer from Galashiels, who reintroduced hand looms to Laxey.

The Mill creates the Laxey Manx tartan, the Winter Manx tartan and the Manx Loaghtan tartan.
