Marine Drive

Marine Drive, Douglas Head, Douglas

Situated between Marine Head and Port Soderick is the picturesque Marine Drive.  The Douglas Southern Electric Tramway, used to run along this stretch of rugged coastline, from 1903 up until the Second World War. The roadway was constructed to replace the tram lines in 1956, however this was closed to traffic in the 1970s, following major rockfalls. It is now used for recreational walking and cycling.
