Sandy and Shingle Beaches

The following locations have predominately sandy beaches. Why not bring a bucket and spade and build your own castle. Ice creams always taste better with a little sand blown onto them. The water is cold, but many people go swimming. The warmest sea times are late August early September. There is a tradition on the Island of taking a New Years Day Dip.

Some beaches ban dogs during May to October.
