Scarlett Visitor Centre and Nature Trail

Marking the beginning of the Nature Trail in Castletown, is the Scarlett Visitor Centre, giving access to maps, diagrams and data of the local area. There is a short film about the Scarlett peninsular, its scenery and wildlife, together with a display of fossils and geology. The Centre is located close to the limestone quarry, and the triple lime-kilns on the shore. Castletown is mostly built form this stone.

In Springtime, the trail leads through stunning coastal flowers, including Stonecrop, Spring Squill and Thrift. You may also see seabirds such as Wheatears, Stonechats and Hawking Swallows.

Opening Hours

Open from the end of May to the end of September,
2-5pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
