The Hassel Grave
Malew Churchyard, Crossag Road, Ballasalla, IM9 3EF
The most curious grave on the Island belongs to husband and wife, Mathew and Margaret Hassal and lies in Malew Churchyard. The gravestone, dating back to the 1850s, is enclosed by four iron stakes draped with heavy chains.
Why the grave looks like it does remains a mystery. It is located next to the stone wall of the old graveyard and the speculation is of course that it belongs to a Vampire.
