COMPETITION

Time Enough is pleased to announce its Train Design and Short Story Competition in collaboration with children’s author Christopher Vine, Isle of Man Transport and The Family Library.

We may be feeling a little stuck at home but that can’t stop our imaginations. We can travel anywhere with a bit of inspiration, so we invite you to create a virtual journey and design the train to take us there!

Take a look at our Virtual Train Journeys and Christopher Vine’s Trainspotting puzzle page on Spotlight for some ideas or go to Christopher Vine’s website Peter’s Railway.  For some inspiration why not look at our own heritage railways here on the Island, visit Isle of Man Transport to explore the Isle of Man Steam Railway, see photos of our trains, and learn about where they run.

The closing date is 6th July 2020. The winners will be announced on the 17th July 2020.

There are four categories and 9 different prizes to be won:

Age 4-7  Peter’s Railway Design a Train

Age 8-10  Peter’s Railway Design a Train

Age 5-7  The Rainbow Train, short story, up to 400 words, with or without illustrations.

Age 8-14  Short Train Story, using the same title as above or creating your own, up to 500 words.

You can start your story (and your journey anywhere you like) however, if you want something to get you started try this opening sentence suggestion:

It was pouring with rain and the sun was shining through a gap in the clouds when, suddenly, the train came to a halt

The entries may be sent via email to competition@timeenough.im

You do not have to use the entry form. You can simply use a piece of paper, but make sure you put your name, age and address on it, together with you design or story.
