The proceedings start at the Royal Chapel, after which a procession is led to the hill for the reading of the legislature in Manx and English. The Lieutenant Governor presides over the ceremony. This is a National Holiday, and a fair is located in the field behind the hill, with stalls and family entertainment.

The best of the best, is on show at the Southern. Saturday is the main judging day when the Supreme Champion is chosen in the Cattle, Goat, Horse and Sheep Categories. Varied competitions include Horse Riding, Dog Handling and Meg Lambs.

A day of pageant with contests including Southern Belles, Carnival Queen, Holiday Princess, Bonny Baby, games, confetti and a fancy dress parade in the evening. Live music, and street food throughout the day including Castletown Metropolitan Silver band. Ending with fireworks and music in the evening.
