Since 1909, there have been Manx Scouts promoting the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.

1st Douglas Scouts

Established in 1909 this still remains the Island’s oldest continuous Scout group.    

1st Laxey Scouts

There are an estimated 58 million scouts in 216 countries and territories around the world. Scouting is the world’s biggest youth organisation. The aim of Scouting is to promote the development of young people. The method of achieving the aim is through progressive training and the provision of exciting and adventurous activities.

Ballachurry Nature Reserve

Church Road, Port Erin, IM9 6LN

First opened in 2007 and run by the Manx Wildlife Trust since 2016. The reserve has a hide for birdwatching and a trail that links its two ponds. Ballachurryreports.blogspot.com has regular updates and shows the wildlife found in the area. Dogs are not allowed. Open all day.
